A little update :)

Hey there!

I know it's been a minute since I posted.

We did make it home safely and the flights were amazingly simple with these little travelers.

I say that and am in awe that I truly feel that way after looking back and realizing we had bloody noses, popping ears, motion sickness, and much more.

Really though, it was not that bad.
I saw how everything that happened, including Aaron's screaming fit in the passport control line was meant for good.

How you ask?
Well, had he not been screaming that he had to use the bathroom (after our already 5 trips to the facility) then we wouldn't have been pushed through the incredibly long line which made it to where we actually made our flight in the knick of time.
Had he not been screaming and people let us in line ahead of them, we would have missed our first flight and then each after that of course.

I will try to sit down and write out all the details of the last few weeks of the adoption and up to coming home very soon.
It is a bit busy around here with all of us home :)

We got home Friday night a little earlier than planned which was greawt!
We got home and rested well!
Saturday am I woke up and had to call a dear friend over to help with the kids as I had to make an ER visit with Austin who had some mysterious hives that were taking over his little body.
After that we spent the aftn getting ready for Daddy Daughter dance for the girls and Bryan and the boys and I had a special Mommy and Me date.
We love this night every year.
It is a great bonding experience and an excellent way to show boys how to treat ladies and to act like gentlemen and how to show the girls how to be treated and act like ladies.
We have a great time every year.
Aaron was so tired after eating that he actually fell asleep at the table!
LOL
Memories!

We went to church on Sunday and really enjoyed having everyone there!
It was easier getting 6 kids ready and gone than 4!
Amazing how God works!
We got home from shurch and woke up Monday with a bit of sickness.
Tuesday it got worse and Wednesday we were in the ER yet again with Alexis - 104 fever that wouldn't break and then she couldn't hold anything down.
Not a fun morning.
We then got everyone into the doc that aftn after finding out Lexi had Strep.
Can you say wild fire?

After all 6 kids were seen, shots given, and prescriptions written we were worn out and ready to go home.
We had to make 2 trips to the pharmacy b/c we had so many prescriptions and they didn't have all that we needed for everyone.
Crazy!
After several days on meds and no more fevers, we headed to our homeschool valentine's party that had been postponed from Monday due to weather.

We had a great time eating and playing with friends.

Fast forward to Sunday when we had the kids dedicated in church.
Basically, this is a parent dedication saying that we commit our family to the Lord and that we will raise them in the ways of the Lord.

On that day we had a fun morning of getting everyone ready to go and hubby being so sweet to start the vehicles to warm as we finished getting ready only to find that when we went to load up the van was locked.. with the keys in it running.
Nice.
This is where having an old, beat up, yet paid for vehicle comes in handy.
You see the window is a bit off kilter so we could nudge it down and put in the tire iron from the car and unlock it.
WHEW!
Crisis averted!
We made it to church not long before the end of the service in time to be called up to the front for dedication! LOL

God is good even in our craziness!
We have spent much of this week just getting things organized and everyone settled into their new rooms.
We have cleaned and played and cleaned and played and slept of course!
Yesterday was a fun day that we spent at my parent's house working in the garden.

We cleared our area that they have so graciously alloted for our garden and tilled up about half of it.
We planted our potatoes and then hustled off to church.

So, there is our trip home and first few days in a nutshell!
I love my life!

Remember when....

We are leaving on a jet plane and never looking back!!
We leave at 3:30am to head to the airport for our 6:30am take off.

I will work on updates later - sorry been without internet, phone, heat.. you name it..
We are all ok and excited to be HOME!
Please pray for safe travels, comfortable travels, lots of rest and good attitudes on the planes and while waiting at the airports.
We arrive in OKC tomorrow (Friday) at 9:14pm if you want to come welcome Aliyah and Aaron HOME!

Thank you all for your prayers and support.

Don't forget...
If God brought you to it, he will bring you through it!
He doesn't always call the equipped but he does equip those he calls.
He said in the beginning these kids were ours.
He showed us his plan, we followed and now, the reward is great!
We are blessed beyond measure with these kids.
Little did we know the ride we would be taken on when saying "YES" to God in this plan.
Little did we know the great rewards that awaited us too!

Remember when I wrote about the heart to heart I had with God on Ayden's birthday?
How I bawled and pleaded with God to please help us to understand and to know what to do?
Remember when HE asked ME what I WANTED?
Remember when I said, I WANT THEM BOTH.
Remember the butterfly?
(if you  missed this post, you'll want to go back RIGHT NOW and read it so you can know what I'm talking about now - Oct 11, 2011 post)
Well, there is something I didn't share with you about the butterfly.
Why?
Well, because, I'll admit, I didn't want you to think I was crazy.
I didn't want to look stupid if it didn't happen.
In all honesty, I think the truth is I doubted God and what he said to me that day.
I wanted it, but how could this be?
Well, the whole story on the butterfly is this...
Do you remember this picture?
Do you notice the TWO colors on the butterfly?
There is lots of pink.. and just a little bit of yellow.
However, they are one in the same.
They are part of the same whole.
God told me that day that just as the yellow is just a small part of the butterfly, Aaron was a small part of Aliyah, but that they were woven together before time and they would soar together and be home with us as part of our whole.
Part of our family.
Both of them!
I am so happy to say now, looking back that God was true to his word.
He gave us two beautiful gifts that were once just small parts of eachother, siblings by blood, but never met, and yet they were PART of EACHOTHER and now, they are TOGETHER and part of US.
FOREVER!

Remember when... I shared with you those verses when we first started this journey?

Here's a reminder:

13 For I am the LORD your God
who takes hold of your right hand
and says to you, Do not fear;
I will help you.
14 Do not be afraid, you worm Jacob,
little Israel, do not fear,
for I myself will help you,” declares the LORD,
your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
15 “See, I will make you into a threshing sledge,
new and sharp, with many teeth.
You will thresh the mountains and crush them,
and reduce the hills to chaff.
16 You will winnow them, the wind will pick them up,
and a gale will blow them away.
But you will rejoice in the LORD
and glory in the Holy One of Israel.
17 “The poor and needy search for water,
but there is none;
their tongues are parched with thirst.
But I the LORD will answer them;
I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.
18 I will make rivers flow on barren heights,
and springs within the valleys.
I will turn the desert into pools of water,
and the parched ground into springs.
19 I will put in the desert
the cedar and the acacia, the myrtle and the olive.
I will set junipers in the wasteland,
the fir and the cypress together,
20 so that people may see and know,
may consider and understand,
that the hand of the LORD has done this,
that the Holy One of Israel has created it.

Isaiah 41:13-20

I have clung tight to these words during this process.
This has not been an easy road.
Not by any stretch of the imagination.
Where there times we thought "how on earth is this going to happen?"
Yes.
Then we remembered what GOD promised and that that is a HEAVENLY realm and a heavenly promise and God's words DO NOT return unto him void!

So, my dear friends, what is God asking you to do?
Does it seem impossible?
Unsurmountable odds?
Unbelievably tall mountains ahead?
JUST. HAVE. FAITH. IN. GOD!

Say YES!
And free fall into this glorious life of faith.
It hasn't always been pretty when we look at our circumstances, but when we keep our eyes on GOD and what HE is doing then we are all ok!

No, this hasn't been easy.
Yes, people thought, and still think, we are crazy for taking this leap of faith to come to UA without knowing WHO we were coming for, HOW we were going to complete it and not having complete funds.
Yet, God is good and his mercy and love endures FOREVER.
God wove our family together in the heavenlies long before we could even imagine it in the earthly realm and we are so grateful that we said YES.
Yes, Lord.

Praise the LORD for his guidance, his watching over us,  his protection, his provision, and his LOVE for Aliyah and Aaron and all of us along the way.
I believe he lived up to his end of the deal don't you think?
Trust me and I will make it known that it is by no other name but the name of Jesus that this could be done!
AMEN!

Thank you Lord for showing yourself strong on behalf of the orphans...
orphan no more...

Tomorrow,
tomorrow,
Aliyah Elizabeth Horner
and
Aaron Michael Horner
will be HOME with their entire family and will step foot on US soil and proudly be
American Citizens.

Remember when I told you their new names?
In case you didn't know, they have significant meaning!
The verses God gave to us to come here inspired Aliyah's name.
And the verses God gave us to keep going and pursue Aaron and Aliyah inspired Aaron's name.
Now, the cool part is God used their Uncle Mark and their Nana to share those names with us.
We were praying and praying for names to have real meaning to us and our children.

I will share with you now..

Aliyah means to rise up.
Boy, is she gonna do that!!!
Aaron means mountain of strength.
What a strong young man he has had to be and will be.

God is great!
I love how his word is alive and well and can speak to us all daily if only we'll take the time to listen, read, and pray.

I thank you for following our journey and I pray that if nothing else, you have seen God work in our lives and on behalf of these kids and that knowing that and seeing that first hand will bring you to a closer relationship with our Heavenly Father.
He loves you, just as he loves these kiddos.
Just as he loves all the orphans, widows, men, women, children, and takes the time to clothe the flowers and birds, he loves YOU!
Take time to get to know HIM today!

Two less...
Two less orphans in the world tonight!

All it takes is 1 family to change the life of an orphan!

Is God leading YOU to foster, adopt, or host?
Pray and ask God what HE would have YOU to do for the cause of the orphan.

In his name,

Alecia

You carry me all the way.. mountains are gonna fall!

When the path is daunting
And every step exhausting
I'm not alone, I'm not alone, no, no

I feel You draw me closer
All these burdens on my shoulder
I'm not alone, I'm not alone
You pull me from this place

(Chorus)
Hallelujah!
You carry me every day
You carry me all the way
Hallelujah!
You carry me to the
You carry me to the cross

How Your love has moved me
To the foot of all Your glory
I'm not alone, I'm not alone, I'm not alone

Chorus
All of these cities you have built
And every cathedral you have filled
To all of creation you gave life with your hands
And with those hands you comfort me
You lift me up from my knees
And carry me
You carry me

Chorus

The cross
You carry me to the
You carry me to the cross

Kutless You carry me to the cross :)
This song has spoken to my heart and my situation so much! I pray it speaks to you as well!

God is carrying us all the way!  Praise report update - we were able to bring in another $675 with the matching grant so thank you all!  The need is now $3575.

Please continue to pray for our family.  As we call on  Jesus, he comes to rescue us!
We are definately in need of some rescue and we are calling out to Jesus, knowing we are not alone and that he moves mountains!  When you call on Jesus all things are possible, mountains are moveable and he listens at all times.  Please cry out to God on our behalf when you think of us.  God has said that He'll be with us and never leave us no matter what!

Thank you!!

It's DOUBLE DAY~

Hello from Ukraine WITH Aliyah AND Aaron Horner! :)

So, I have a LOT to update you on, however, I am still running like crazy!
I hope to have time later tonight or tomorrow sometime to work on the updates.

However, in the mean time, we have had a couple of donations come in over the last couple of days- THANK YOU for answering the call!
So our need is now down to $4250!

The other GREAT news is ...

Just like God blessed us by doubling our expected blessing of children, he has now blessed us in a financial way as well!!

We have another donor that in response to God's urging has graciously offered to
 DOUBLE donation dollars!!
That's right!
For every dollar donated up to $500 it will be matched!!

So, if we get in $500 in donations, it DOUBLES to $1000!!!

Thank you to the anonymous donors who have stepped up to help us out by not only answering the call, but to encourage others to do the same by their matching gift!!

So, share away, donate and be blessed!

Remember, you can donate to the right of this blog and it will come right to us.
If you would like a tax deductable donation, you may donate at www.eliproject.org and be sure to mark it HORNER FAMILY ADOPTIONS.

Thank you!

God Bless YOU!!

Ps..
Pictures in post BEFORE this one!! :)

Story through pictures - Enjoy!

I know you all want to "read all about it" and you will as soon as I have the time and energy to write about it all! :)
We have had an adventure to say the least.
So, for now, how about a picture story?

I'll caption some of them for you :)
Details later!
Promise!

Sad thing, I have NONE of the 120 plus pictures that were taken at court :(
The camera got left behind in UA.
Thankfully, it was returned to me when I got back, however, all but one picture (the one below) was deleted.
I do have one other picture I didn't have before though.. lol
Oh well, God is good and I will always have those memories.

Here's me and Alexis waiting in the car for court-
and the silly boys high-jacking the photo.

Yes, I did use the outside ledge as a quick cool down for my pop :)

The dog that I listen to BARK EVERY DAY AND NIGHT!

Village we are staying in...

Scarecrow in a tall, tall tree.. hmm..

The road out of our village and where I look out all the time when waiting for our ride to arrive...

Bye bye orhpanage bed..
You'll be empty tonight!

Bye bye orphanage clothes!

This gal in the pic with us is soon to be "orphan no more" also!!
So glad they are going to be close!
Her family is from a neighboring state so these girls will be able to hang out growing up!

See the notebook she has?
Says:
Run the race...
....Receive the price!

Me and her groupa

Her and her groupa

We were honored to be able to transport a gift package for Ms. Yulia from her Mama and Papa..
This was her shirt.. :)

Bundled up and ready to go!

The girls jumping in the air over the realization that Yulia will be HOME soon too and they will see eachother again in AMERICA!!!

They even had me come in for lunch and set up a special spot for Aliyah and I :)

These kids were in and out, cleaned up and done in less than 8 minutes!
8 minutes.

The orphanage

Knitting and crocheting class

Time for goodbyes!

This is her teacher that I've told you about before.. she loves her so much!
The teacher and I had another crying hug as I thanked her for taking care of my baby before I could.
She is a true "CARE" taker!

Time to eat!

We colored the picture together and hung it on their wall of pics :)

Fresh out of a bath and in her comfy jammas!

On our way to get brother!!!
She's about to meet her biological brother for the first time ever!
